Privacy Policy
Beta / pre-release. This policy describes Vokami during closed beta and internal testing. It is a practical draft for early store review and is not a final legal document. Operator and legal review is required before a broad public production launch.
Introduction
Vokami (“we”, “us”, “our”) provides an audio social application and related services. This Privacy Policy explains what information we may collect, how we may use it, and the choices you may have.
This policy applies to the Vokami mobile app (including app.vokami.mobile on Android) and web experiences we operate.
Information we may collect
Account information
- Email address — used to create and sign in to your account.
- Password — stored using industry-standard authentication practices; we do not store your password in plain text.
- Profile information — such as display name, bio, avatar, and preferences you choose to provide.
Audio posts and user-generated content
- Audio recordings — when you create a post by recording or uploading audio.
- Post details — title, description, cover images, and visibility settings you provide.
- Comments and interactions — comments you post, likes, saves, follows, and similar activity within the app.
Public visibility of audio posts may be subject to moderation and review. New posts may not appear on public feeds until reviewed, where that workflow applies.
Microphone permission
On Android, Vokami requests the microphone permission only when you choose to record audio for a post. We do not use the microphone in the background. If you deny permission, you may still use other parts of the app where available (such as uploading an audio file, if supported).
Cover images and media
You may optionally add cover images to posts or set a profile avatar using your device’s image picker. Supported formats typically include JPEG, PNG, and WebP. We use these images only to display your content and profile as you intend.
Safety, reports, and moderation
- Reports — if you report content or users, we may store report details for review.
- Blocks and mutes — your block and mute preferences are stored to enforce your safety choices.
- Moderation records — admin review actions, queue status, and related metadata may be retained for safety and operational purposes.
How we may use information
- Provide, operate, and improve Vokami.
- Authenticate you and maintain your account.
- Display your profile and content according to your settings and our review workflows.
- Enforce our safety tools, respond to reports, and conduct moderation.
- Communicate with you about support requests you initiate.
- Protect the security and integrity of the service.
Backend infrastructure
Vokami uses cloud backend services (including Supabase for authentication, database, and file storage) to operate the app. Data is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS). Access to stored data is controlled by application security rules designed to limit access to authorized users and administrators.
We do not embed private backend credentials in the public app or on these policy pages.
AI authenticity and provenance
Vokami is designed to distinguish original human-created content from AI-generated or AI-assisted content wherever AI features are used. We do not intend for AI-generated or AI-assisted content to be presented as purely human-created without appropriate disclosure.
Some AI-related capabilities may be planned or limited during beta. When AI features are offered, we plan to label them clearly. Current product behavior may not include all future AI features described in our roadmap.
Data retention
We may retain information while your account is active and for a reasonable period afterward, including where needed for:
- Operating the service and resolving disputes.
- Safety, abuse prevention, and moderation.
- Legal, regulatory, or audit requirements.
- Backup and disaster recovery.
When you delete posts, we may soft-delete or remove associated content according to our backend rules. Some records may remain in backups or moderation logs for a limited time.
Your choices and rights
- You can review and update much of your profile information in the app.
- You can delete your own posts where the app provides that option.
- You can use block, mute, and report tools for safety.
- You can request account deletion — see our Delete account page.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights regarding your personal data. To exercise rights or ask questions, contact us through the channel on our Support page.
Children
Vokami is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us through our support channel.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version on this page and change the “Last updated” date. Material changes may also be communicated through the app or other reasonable means where appropriate.
